October 23rd, 2009Loves it
October 17th, 2009This was built by my uncle in 1968. The last time I saw it it was sitting in my grandmother’s apartment when JT was 8 months old. I made a comment that I really loved it and she said it would be mine. She since moved into a different residence so it’s been hanging out with my parents. They arrived today from MN and brought it with them along with a cabinet for JT’s bathroom, a rocking chair that will become a permanent fixture for both grandma’s and a slew of toys for JT. He received an Annie and Clarabel, a Diego submarine, a stuffed Iguana and what I think is a kayaking Diego. JT went to bed with the submarine. I’d go to bed with the cabinet if I could.
I’m not one to own fancy dishes to stick in here. We’re more the plain white type with some hand-me-down snowmen that we love (have I thanked you enough for them yet?) but I do have some other junk to throw in here when I have enough energy to climb the top of my cupboards and bring them down. For now the shelves serve their purpose holding pictures.
Once I get a better pic of JT and grandma I’ll get it in here.
We’re off to The Alamo in San Antonio tomorrow since mom and dad have never been, Kevin would go 100 times and JT will go anywhere Santa does…and I’m the driver. Have a good weekend!
New Routine
October 12th, 2009Kevin began his training today in San Antonio for his new job. It’s a short 45-60 minute drive and they offered to put him up in a hotel room for the week but upon learning that they were going to be paired up with people, all but 1 guy decided to drive back each night. I wouldn’t want to bunk with a stranger and as Kevin said, “I didn’t sign up for summer camp.”
Instead of being one week of training, today they told them it would be two weeks which just dawned on me that that puts a slight damper on when my parents come down to visit. *sigh* I guess we can’t complain because it’s a job and we’ll see him each night around supper time.
JT spent the morning with Tia Gracie while I went to work. He was telling me good-bye before I was ready which tells me that when we start him in daycare/pre-school he’s not going to pitch a fit with being left. Then again, Tia has a cute little dog and a lot of JT’s old toys to keep him occupied. Thank you again, Gracie!
Here on out JT will accompany me to the Y while I work. The childwatch area closes at 1 and my shift ends at 2 on Monday and Friday but I was given the a.o.k. from the boss to keep JT in there the last hour by himself. Thank goodness for flexibility! Saturday he’ll be there from 8-12 while I’m at work unless Kevin has the day off. We’re preparing ourselves for goofed up schedules as he’ll be required to work 3 weekends a month and close several nights a week. It’s definitely a change but one that is due.
And for good measure, a picture of JT from tonight.
